Families have access to services and support

HEALTH & WELLNESS ENROLLMENT SERVICES

 Health Insurance Enrollment
In partnership with Fresno County Department of Social Services, WFFRC staff – Application Advocated (AA) assisted 1,790 families to gain access to health insurance coverage.
Health Services
WFFRC partnered with Fresno State University, School of Nursing to give those who qualify Health Assessment Referrals, Diabetes Screening and Education, Blood Pressure Screening and Education. On Tuesday, September 27th twenty-five community members participated and on October 25th twenty-seven community members participated from 9am to 1pm. 

The Neighborhood Market
In partnership with the Community Foodbank the neighborhood market took place the fourth Tuesday of each month. We distributed fresh produce, perishable food and other food items “farmer market style” to 1,542 community members. Other services provided include the following:
       • Diabetes Testing
       • Blood Pressure Screening

 HEALTH AND FITNESS
Healthy Lifestyle Club

The Healthy Lifestyle Program offered wellness and fitness activities as well as opportunities for seniors to socialize in a welcoming and fun environment. During the period of January-December, 58 classes were held with an average attendance of 13 seniors who attended weekly Sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays from 9:00am – 9:30am was fitness class and 9:30am – 10:30am health education, followed by a healthy brunch.                       
Weekly activities included:
· Nutrition education
· Food demonstrations
· Low intensity exercise
· Chronic disease management sessions
· Managing stress using mind and body skills
· Senior Activities
· Portion Sizes, Calories, Sugar and Whole grains.
· Eating Healthy, Spending Less.
· Rethink Your Drink.
· Your Healthy Lifestyle Action Plan.

Dietary Education

Student interns from Fresno State Food Science and Nutrition Program provided nutrition education and food demonstrations. Fourteen successful classes were taught, reaching an average of 20 adults per session.
